Explain why a geosynchronous satellite at a certain altitude/latitude is impossible.?

Satellites orbit around the Center of M of the earth. Thus, a geosynchronous orbit must be over the equator. The height above the earth surface is roughly 40,000 km. From that altitude, it would be easy to monitor Iraq even though the satellite was not directly overhead
