How do you wear something casual and smart at the same time? HELP PLEASE?

i am on a program to study at cambridge for 2 weeks with some of the students from my school and other schools too, globally. we're leaving next week, but i want to know how to dress smart but casual at the same time? not too office-like, but also something not to make cambridge look like a high school refuge camp?
