Anyone know what kelly clarkson means when she says"sunday school answer"?

I think she means that he's tried to sugar coat his excuse for why he did certain things (in this case, ended their relationship). He wouldnt come out and tell her, he just gave her what he decided was an answer she would accept and want to hear.
