Mr. Jordan, an algebra teacher, wrote a quadratic equation on the board. It was of the form x^2 + bx + c = 0 where b and c are integers and instructed the cl to solve it. Eric incorrectly copied one of the coefficients and got solutions of -6 and -1. Cindy incorrectly copied the other coefficient and found solutions of -2 and 6.
