Bipolar Disorder - is it hereditary?

I have a girlfriend, who I love to death. I love her enough that I would be happy to marry her one day - barring one thing. Her mom is, in layman's terms, a psycho *****. I'm fairly certain she has bipolar disorder. She drinks enough that I would put money that she is also an alcoholic. This combination makes her mean and sometimes violent. My girlfriend hates her mother for it, and has told me she never plans on being like that. But isn't bipolar disorder hereditary? What's the risk that she may end up the same way? I couldn't stay with her if there's a risk she'd end up like that, but if it's not really something I need to worry about, then I would love to, because I love her with all of my heart.

i hate it. the whole time your stoumach hurts and you almost want to puke, and it's there fault, so you hate them and yell at them. and right when your about to full on scream they say "i love you too" as a joke, and even though you know there kidding your heart melts and you can't breath. your always wondering what there doing and who there with and if they think about you, but then you call and they say hi and you cant think of anything to say because just knowing they answered you is making you crazy.it hurts your stoumach to think of them, and hurts your heart to thin k of them, but it's such a sickly addicting pain you can't get enough and always want more. it's the worst feeling in the world, but you never want it to end because it is so beautiful.

Help my hard wood floors are ruined?

i used that swiffer wet jet on my hard wood floors and it left a gross plastic-like film on them. It looks like there covered in mud! I tried windex,soap and water,Murphy's oil( makes it disappear for an hour and the film reappears) and vinegar,(it works a little bit but to tedious and time consuming. I have to much flooring to do that. Is there any other magic solution that can help. It's horrible!!!

Martha is forcing grace to take care of the baby full time for 5 weeks from the due date in July to august 21st when school starts for her. Crock Pot Chicken Noodle Soup - Cut Chicken OK?

I'm planning on cooking up some homemade chicken noodle soup in the crock pot, but want to use bits of chicken . All of the recipes I've come across call for fryer/broiler chicken. Would it make a difference if I cut my chicken up and slow cooked it that way instead of cooking a whole chicken? Also, would using pre-cut pieces instead of a whole cause my cooking time to change? This is my first attempt at chicken noodle soup so I'm hoping not to mess it up, any pointers or advice would be great!

Strange symptoms for a 2 1/2 yr old?

How often can I straighten my hair?

well, everyone says you should not straighten your hair every day, but I do. I wash my hair at night, let it dry over night and then straighten it in the morning, that way I'm not blow drying it and straightening it, just one. I have been straightening my hair pretty much every day for the last 4 years, and my hair is still really soft! I use a moisturizing shampoo, then straightening conditioner, then leave-in conditioner and that's it, I have the CHI and CHI heat protector, but I never use the heat protector, I probably should though. I have very thick hair and it takes me about 20 minutes to straighten it good! I do clip it up, like you said you didn't want to, but I don't straighten it in 1 inch pieces, I straighten it in bigger pieces. It does not take as long as you would think! After I have straightened it, I put it in a ponytail but leave out my bangs, straighten my bangs then straighten my hair a few times in the ponytail, this helps thin it, and evenly straighten it. Lastly I put it down how I'm going to wear it for the day and just straighten any pieces that do not look straight. As time goes on you'll get better at straightening and it will take less and less time. The best way to straighten your hair is clipping it, but if you try that and find it is taking to long you can put it all down and just run your straighten over your hair, but the bottom of your hair will not get as straight, causing it to be poofy. Also you want to make sure your straightener is hot for when you straighten your hair, the hotter the better, unless you have very thin hair. When I first get up the first thing I do is plug in my straightener, then I get dressed and do my make-up and anything else I have to do, I straighten my hair last, so my straightener is very hot by then and I straighten it until I have to leave, so I have the maximum amount of time to straighten my hair. hope this helps!(:

For parents that use cloth diapers?

Do you buy them or make your own? I'm considering making my own. My second is due in July and I just can't even stand to think of the cost for the two of them plus every other weekend we have my step-daughter and she is still in diapers for the time being. Anyways I found a site online about making them but it says to measure the babies legs for the elastic and such if I want to make them for my newborn obviously I can't do this. So should I just guess or use a disposable to measure the elastic? Also how do you wash cloth diapers and what do you do with them in between washings? I have heard some people say they use a small trash can with a lid and put water and a little bleach in it but wouldn't this ruin the fabric and turn them all white if it sits in there for a day or two? Also how many diapers do I need? I have a busy schedule and won't have time to wash them everyday probably every other. I know my son goes through about 5-6 diapers a day give or take and I can't even begin to remember how many he went through when he was a newborn. Any other tips? The site I saw suggested going to the goodwill and getting flannel shirts to cut diapers out of. I'd like to make them as cheaply as possible. I don't really care how cute they are as they will be under clothing so I don't really see the point. I will probably do a few cute one's just for fun and the rest just cheap as I can. I think the 1st is the cutest, however, I think it would depend on your skin color 1st. If very pale skinned the white top of the 2nd one won't look as well against the skin. 2nd the shape of your body could make the shorter or longer one look better.

Critique my first poem?

This is an excellent attempt at narrative poetry. The writing is pretty good for the first time. Try to find a sense of rhythm and a sense of structure, however, to make this a "poem" and not just a story broken up into individual lines. I find this to be a powerful story, but it is lacking imagery. Put more, what I call, "literary fluff" in it. Literary fluff = metaphors, similes, imagery, etc. I see an excellent foundation for a fantastic and moving poem, but it is not quite there yet.

In light of this doentary "Waiting for Superman" that highlights our "awful" public school system it seems that they want to focus on the downfalls of public education. Sure there *are* downfalls in the system but what I want to know if how a parent can know (or maybe how can they not know), their 12 year old is illiterate and not do anything to help them. Do parents really sit back and think it's the school fault alone? i have been sick since Jan 10th.. i have seen a PA on an acute basis who diagnosed me with bronchitis who gave me cipro x12 days & sent me home. i went back 4 days after completion and was put on a tapered dose of prednisone for 12 more days (same PA).. still no better saw her again and was put on Levaquin 500 10 days.... after 3 days i developed a low-grade fever between 99 and 102. i went to see my ACTUAL dr who said that he thought i needed to be in the hospital, sent me for a chest xray, blood cultures, misc labs, etc.. that afternoon i was admitted. i saw as an inpatient an infectious disease dr who advised that i had staph pneumonia. how long does it take to get over this? i am SOOOO tired, i feel more like i have mono than pneumonia. i can't walk up the stairs in my apt without having to lie down. it's horrible. does anyone know???

Im a 30yr old female. I grew up in a dysfunctional and neglectful household. At 18 i developed psychological problems. I contacted a therapist myself and scd and paid her fees myself. I had no confidence or self esteem, i thought i was stupid. My mum is a mentally ill alcoholic, now in care. I have contact with her and its fine, i love mum but know she doesnt have the capacity to mother as i want. I know that and its ok. I'm trying to get on with my life as best i can. Every so often i have set backs and suffer depression and anxiety. . I've known my shrink for 14 years. I havent seen her consistantly for 14 years...on an off, could go 4 yrs without contact. But...i have fond memories of our sessions. She helped me see i was actually intellegant and my confidence increased so i'm able to do ok for myself. I've had a lot of stress again. I contacted her recently. She recognised me on the phone before i said my name. Seh said for me she'd see me anytime. I've always dreamed about her being my mom. I had other shrinks but i never enjoyed the sessions, only with her. Coz shes special and i feel a very special bond. I've skimeed across this subject wtih her. I've told her i've seen other therapists when i couldnt get to her (when i lived away) but i never came away feeling happy and hopeful. Just more depressed and they seemd to instill in me a feelin of fear that i needed a load of help and tried to get me to commit to loads of sessions. She never made me commit to any sessions, i always decide when i need a session. And she always points out how well i've done and i come away feeling hopeful. I've told her this. She said she feels we work well together. But i didnt tell her about how fond i am of her...i think its too personal. What do you think? It saddens me to think the only contact i can have wtih her is when i pay for sessions, even though i thoroughly enjoy her company when we chat outside of sessions. Having HORRIBLE SLEEP PARALYSIS... anyone know how to avoid or why this happens?

I have been having sleep paralysis since i was in high school (i am 29 now). at first i thot it was from using drugs(when i was younger. i am now clean) and didnt happen too often. now it has been happening at least twice a week for the last 3 months straight. it happened 4times so far this week and i dont know what to do. its to the point where im terrified and have to lock myself inthe bathroom for over an hour w the lights on. sometimes it happens 3 times a night and im not sleeping at all (which makes it worse). for the 1st time i experienced a loud ringing in my ears like a telephone and its happening when im more awake now and even after i sit up. this week it kept happening even as i was talking to my boyfriend and asking him for help. i have never been so terrified in my life. i actually felt my body lifting up from my bed as a black shadow was trying to take me,i felt. i am the happiest i have ever been in my life and am not stressed out or anything like i used to be when i first experienced it, i know it gets worse when u r sleep deprived but it has been happening when im fully rested. when i try n go back to sleeep it keeps on happening thru the night (even when im not sleeping on my back). last week my dog was sleeping on my chest n when i woke up my arms hurt ( in the "dream" my dog was scratching n biting me. i have seen the man who died upstairs last year try n pul me out of my bed. ive heard paranormal researchers have been looking in to this and want to know if anyone thinks its paranormal or some kind of hereditary or medical situation?? pleaswe help. i donmt know what to do.

Pinky toe swollen and sore?

What do you do with 10 lbs of frozen chicken thighs & drumsticks?

There are only two of us, my son and myself. Altho' my son is a big eater, there is no way we can eat that much chicken at one meal. I know I've always been told never to refreeze anything, especially chicken. My very young mouse is dying?

I have two pet mice and I'm pretty sure one of them is one death's doorstep...he's been scratching himself raw for about a day or two and when I fed he and his brother today, he stayed very still, buried waaaay underneath the blankets I have in their cage. He was really limp and a tad chilly. The first thing I did was put him in a box by himself with food and water and a rag for him to snuggle in, and then I cleaned out their cage. How can they increase their max deadlift so significantly if they haven't tried to do a max deadlift in a month or two? Is it that they simply didn't try hard enough the first time? Don't you have to keep steadily increasing the weight to build up to a higher weight? Are these people doing other types exercises or lifts that are increasing their deadlift max? I thought the only way to increase your deadlift max is to do deadlifts. That is the advice I have been given. People tell me the best way to increase your deadlift max is by doing deadlifts. The same applies to pull ups. The best way to increase your pull ups is to do pull ups. Not many other types of exercises can help you do more pull ups.
